PRESS RELEASE: OMB Conducts Inspections in Malabon and Caloocan
January 11, 2021- An establishment located at Malabon City Square in Brgy. Longos, Malabon City was inspected by the Optical Media Board. The said establishment was found selling storage devices and downloading movies upon inspection. The establishment failed to present the necessary license and permits from OMB. Taken into preventive custody are 1 CPU, 1 monitor, and 1 piece of 4GB USB flash drive with downloaded movies.   Another inspection operation was conducted along Rizal Avenue in Monumento, Caloocan City, leading to the confiscation of 1 sack of pirated optical media discs.   Engaging in business activities involving storage devices without the appropriate licenses and permits from OMB are violations under Republic Act No. 9239 otherwise known as the Optical Media Act of 2003.   The owner of the establishment inspected in Malabon City Square is facing administrative and criminal charges from the Optical Media Board for violations of R.A. No. 9239. If found guilty, the people responsible for this act will face maximum imprisonment of up to six (6) years and a fine of up to One Million Five Hundred Thousand Pesos (Php1,500,000.00) per violation. #
