October 29, 2020 – An enforcement operation was conducted by agents of the Optical Media Board today at the City of Manila.
Extreme Pro Photo Inc., a business establishment located at R. Hidalgo Street Santa Cruz, Manila failed to present an OMB license upon inspection resulting to the confiscation of the storage devices they are selling. Taken into preventive custody are 637 pieces of assorted SD cards and USB flash drives with an estimated total value of Php 1,068,600.00.
Engaging in businesses or activities such as distribution or sale of any storage media devices without securing the necessary license and permits from OMB is a violation of Republic Act no. 9239, otherwise known as the Optical Media Act of 2003.
The owners of Extreme Pro Photo Inc.are facing administrative and criminal charges for violations of Republic Act 9239. If found guilty, the people responsible for this act will face maximum imprisonment of up to six (6) years and a fine of up to One Million Five Hundred Thousand Pesos (Php 1,500,000.00) per violation. #
