PRESS RELEASE: Establishment in Marikina City Inspected by OMB
On October 15, 2020, armed with a Mission Order duly signed by OMB Chair & CEO, Atty. Christian D. Natividad, agents of the Optical Media Board conducted an enforcement operation in Marikina City.   D Box, a business establishment located at B.G. Molina St., Marikina City was found selling storage media devices without the appropriate license and permits from OMB. Taken into preventive custody were Three Hundred Twenty (320) pieces of internal hard disk drives (HDDs) and solid state drives (SSDs).   Engaging in businesses or activities such as distribution or sale of any storage media devices without securing the necessary license and permits from OMB is a violation of Republic Act no. 9239, otherwise known as the Optical Media Act of 2003.   The owners of the said establishment are facing administrative and criminal charges for violations of Republic Act 9239. If found guilty, the people responsible for this act will face maximum imprisonment of up to six (6) years and a fine of up to One Million Five Hundred Thousand Pesos (Php 1,500,000.00) per violation. #
