ZAMBOANGA CITY - Seven million pesos worth of pirated DVDs and CDs were confiscated from several stores in Zamboanga's downtown area on Saturday afternoon.

The raid was conducted after the Optical Media Board (OMB) received several complaints against businessmen who were selling counterfeit products, OMB chairman Atty. Anselmo Adriano said.

Fifty sacks of pirated DVDs from two stores were confiscated and will be housed temporarily at the police camp in Barangay Mercedes, he said.

OMB seizes P32.9M pirated DVDs in Butuan (via Richmond Hinayon)

BUTUAN CITY – Around 235 sacks of pirated digital video discs (DVDs) worth P32.9 million were confiscated by the Optical Media Board (OMB) in Butuan City.

Most of the discs contained porn movies, said the OMB, which raided stalls in Langihan Market Wednesday afternoon together with the Philippine National Police’s Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) team and members of the Regional Public Safety Battalion.

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY – Philippine authorities launched a crackdown on pirated movies and songs and seized hundreds of digital video discs at a shopping area in Cagayan de Oro City in Misamis Oriental province in Mindanao.

Members of the Optical Media Board, backed by policemen, confiscated the pirated discs on Saturday, but there were no arrests made. They swooped down on every stalls and shops selling pirated movies and hauled nearly 600 sacks of video discs.

ABOUT a hundred boxes of pirated digital video discs (DVDs) worth P23 million were seized on Sunday by personnel of Optical Media Board (OMB) from a store in downtown Bacolod City, reports from ABS-CBN Bacolod said.

The pirated DVDs, which were reportedly bought directly from China, were recovered inside a cellphone and computer supplies store.

The boxes containing the pirated discs, and several DVD burners were found at the fourth floor of the building owned by Gilsie Bacalso Tecson, who was not around during the raid.

THREE months of surveillance led authorities to their largest haul of pirated CDs and DVDs stocked in an appliance store in downtown Cebu City.

Personnel from the Optical Media Board (OMB) Manila yesterday seized 259 sacks of imported, pirated CDs and DVDs worth around P36 million in a stock room in the second floor of Cebu HDM Marketing along Manalili Street.
