MANILA -- Kinumpiska ng mga tauhan ng Optical Media Board (OMB) ang mga imported na blankong CD at DVD na nagkakahalagang P5 milyon mula sa isang warehouse sa Paranaque.

Umabot sa 700 kahon ng mga blankong CD at DVD ang natagpuan sa warehouse sa Airport Road na pagmamay-ari umano ng kompanyang Eurocolor.

Ayon kay OMB Chairman Anselmo Adriano, lumabas na walang lisensya mula noong 2009, at wala ring import permit ang Eurocolor para sa ganoong mga produkto.

Combined licensing proceeds and the amount of seized pirated materials have reached over P1.15 billion in 2016 from just P557.5 million in 2016, the Optical Media Board reported Monday.

OMB chairman and chief executive Anselmo Adriano said in a briefing the agency intensified monitoring efforts, especially in the provinces where the sale of pirated DVD movies remained rampant.

November 30-December 1, 2016 Provincial Inspection Operations

For two days, OMB Agents conducted routine inspections in various malls and flee markets in Tarlac City and Pangasinan, where illegal compact discs were reportedly being openly sold to the public.

A total of eighty business stalls were inspected which led to the seizure of around 154,800 or more pieces CDs/DVDs of different format and titles, amounting to an estimated value of Php54.18-Million.

On this day, OMB Agents conducted routine inspections in various malls and flee markets in Zamboanga City, where illegal compact discs were reportedly being openly sold to the public.

A total of twenty seven business stalls were inspected which led to the seizure of around 42,000 or more pieces pirated CDs/DVDs of different format and titles, amounting to an estimated value of Php14.70-Million.

On November 9-10, 2016 OMB Agents conducted routine inspections in various areas in Butuan and Surigao Cities, where illegal compact discs were reportedly being openly sold to the public.

On two separate operations, a total of sixty nine business stalls were inspected which led to the seizure of around 117,600 pieces pirated CDs/DVDs of different format and tittles, amounting to an estimated value of PhP41.16-Million.

On November 3-4, 2016 OMB Agents conducted routine inspections in various areas in the Provinces of Laguna and Quezon, where illegal compact discs were reportedly being openly sold to the public.

On two separate operations, forty nine business stalls were inspected which led to the seizure of around 34,600 pieces pirated CDs/DVDs of different format and tittles, amounting to an estimated value of PhP11.9-Million.
